Concise history of the institute

Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology of ASM –organization from the scientific and innovation sphere – was instituted as a result of the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova nr. 1326 dated the 14.12.2005, through the fusion of the following academic institutes:

Institute of Microbiology of ASM, founded in 1992 in the basis of the Microbiology Section, that started to work in 1959 – the sole scientific institution in Moldova in the field of general and industrial microbiology.
National Collection of Nonpathogenic Microorganisms, founded in 2003 according to the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova as a research institution, as well as information and coordination in the area of storage, keeping and the utilization of the microbial resources.
Scientific Centre of Patobiology and Pathology of ASM, founded in 1991 according to the Decision of the Presidium of ASM with the purpose of integration and orientation of the principal fundamental-applicative research directions in the area of the patobiology and clinical pathology.

	National Collection of Nonpathogenic Microorganisms Creation of conditions those are appropriate to international standards of conservation and turn to account of microbial gene fond.

	Laboratory of Phycobiotechnology Oriented synthesis of bioactive substances by cyanobacteria and microalgae and elaboration of advanced technologies of obtaining biological preparations.

	Laboratory of Enzymology Elaboration of advanced biotechnologies for obtaining enzymes.

	Laboratory of Oleobiotechnology The scientific-oriented synthesis of bioactive substances of yeast.

	Laboratory of Phytomicrobiology Study of symbiotic relationships between crop and some rhizosphere microorganisms and their capacity to stimulate the processes of plant growth and development.

	Laboratory of Soil Microbiology Complex microbial ecology of soil under anthropogenic stress and elaboration of normative standards for the maintenance of soil fertility and prevention of the environmental pollution with toxic compounds, mutagens, etc.

	Laboratory of Xenobiotransformation Turn to account of enzymatic activity of microorganism with the aim to transform/ detoxification the organic compunds

	Laboratory of Vegetal Protein
